To perform computerized tomography exams on patients under the supervision of a radiologist in accordance with UMMC policies and procedures. To maintain accurate patient records and prepare equipment for physician's use.

Responsibilities

• Administers computerized tomography exams under a Radiologist's request and supervision including tomographs, fluoroscopes, and radiographs.
• Greets patient and completes preliminary interview prior to exam.
• Sanitizes examination rooms and prepares rooms with supplies and equipment.
• Starts IVs for patients prior to scan.
• Explains exam procedures to the patient to educate and relieve anxiety.
• Ensures compliance with safety measures.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Requires occasional exposure to high noise levels, heat, cold, biohazardous conditions, radiation, bloodborne pathogens, fumes, chemicals, and physical exertion including lifting over 100 pounds, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, driving, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, twisting, and walking. Work hours may extend beyond regular shifts and involve travel to offsite locations.

Requirements

• Education & Experience: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology, Radiation Therapy, or Nuclear Medicine program. One year of CT Technologist experience required.
• Certifications & Licenses: Must obtain Mississippi Radiologic Technologist license and ARRT registration by hire date. BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
