Responsibilities
  • The CT technologist assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the CT equipment to obtain diagnostic scans.
  • Patient Care: Ensure patient safety and comfort in the radiology department. Explain the procedure and post-procedure orders to the patient to gain cooperation and minimize anxiety. Prioritize workflow based on patient condition and ensure timely arrivals and departures. Provide an atmosphere conducive to patient cooperation and confidence. Utilize data from patient satisfaction and practice performance to identify opportunities for improvement and participate in planning.
  • Compliance: Follow OSHA regulations and use universal precautions. Clean examination surfaces between patients and provide clean linen; immediately clean spills following precautions. Properly store accessory equipment when not in use.
  • Teamwork: Work within a team to achieve patient and team goals; share and initiate regular professional communication with co-workers and participate in regular staff meetings.
  • Technical Competency: Follow routine standards and safely manipulate the CT equipment. Maintain sterile equipment and fields; adjust cameras to obtain proper density and contrast; perform warm-up and QC procedures; use protocols to obtain images; critique image quality and determine if repeats are necessary.
Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. 2 Year/Associate's Degree preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program.
  • Experience: 1 year of CT experience preferred.
  • Licensure: ARRT CT (RT(R)(CT)) certification/registration required within 12 months of hire.
  • Additional Skills/Requirements: Analytical ability, basic computer skills, good communication, ability to adapt procedures to patient age, and ability to interpret information for age-specific care. Able to prepare patients for procedures and operate CT equipment.

The job requires standing for long periods, frequent travel and overhead/repetitive reaching. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and handwriting.
