Job description

Overview

CT Technologist

Where advanced imaging expertise directly shapes patient outcomes, education, and discovery. CT Technologists at UVA Health play a vital role in a dynamic clinical environment. This role is for imaging professionals who value precision, thrive in complexity, and want their work to matter beyond the scan—supporting trauma care, specialty medicine, and the education of future clinicians.

The Role

As a CT Technologist, you will perform routine to complex CT procedures for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols, under the direction of a radiologist, in a busy educational hospital setting.

Your Work Will Include
  • Performing a wide variety of CT examinations in a fast-paced academic imaging department supporting trauma, inpatient, outpatient, and specialty services
  • Operating advanced CT equipment and adhering to established protocols to consistently produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Preparing, positioning, and educating patients to ensure safety, comfort, and optimal imaging outcomes
  • Establishing IV access and administering contrast media under physician direction
  • Conducting quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas while ensuring all safety standards are met
  • Collaborating closely with radiologists, physicians, nurses, residents, and fellow technologists as part of an integrated care team
  • Supporting UVA Health’s teaching mission by instructing students and residents and serving as a preceptor as needed
  • Assisting with supply inventory management and participating in ongoing service and process improvement initiatives

An average day blends technical expertise, critical thinking, patient interaction, and teamwork. You may support emergent trauma imaging, complex diagnostic studies, and learner education—all while contributing to a department that values professionalism, accountability, and clinical excellence.
