Job summary

Ridgeview Imaging in Waconia, MN is seeking a CT Technologist to perform high-quality CT examinations in accordance with physician orders and safety standards, helping diagnose and treat patients.

You will position patients, administer contrast when indicated, monitor for adverse reactions, maintain equipment and cleanliness, and collaborate with radiologists and providers to ensure accurate imaging and patient care. ARRT CT certification and BLS required; teamwork across locations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to safely administer contrast media and respond to adverse reactions.

  • Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with established protocols, physician orders, and departmental standards.
  • Accurately positions patients and selects scan parameters to obtain diagnostic-quality images while maintaining ALARA.
  • Administers intravenous contrast media as ordered and monitors for adverse reactions.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and providers to ensure appropriate imaging studies are performed.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas to ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, and proper equipment functionality.
  • Participates in quality assurance, continuing education, and departmental improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with patient transport and workflow coordination.

Description

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for performing high-quality, accurate computed tomography (CT) examinations in accordance with established protocols, physician orders, and regulatory standards to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The CT Technologist provides compassionate patient care while ensuring patient safety, image quality, and efficient workflow.

Job Functions
  • Interacts with patients, providers, and staff in a professional, compassionate, and courteous manner to ensure a positive patient experience and maintain patient safety.
  • Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with established protocols, physician orders, and departmental standards.
  • Accurately positions patients and selects appropriate scan parameters to obtain diagnostic-quality images while adhering to radiation safety principles (ALARA).
  • Administers intravenous contrast media as ordered and monitors patients for adverse reactions according to established policies and procedures.
  • Performs intravenous access procedures as needed for contrast‑enhanced CT examinations.
  • Reviews patient history, physician orders, and screening information to ensure appropriate examination protocols are utilized.
  • Evaluates images for quality, completeness, and technical accuracy prior to submission to the radiologist.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and providers to ensure accurate clinical information is obtained and appropriate imaging studies are performed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy, pathology, and CT imaging techniques.
  • Maintains equipment and work areas to ensure patient safety, regulatory compliance, and proper equipment functionality.
  • Demonstrates proper room, equipment, and infection prevention cleaning procedures between patients.
  • Participates in quality assurance, continuing education, and departmental improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with patient transport and workflow coordination as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy, pathology, and CT imaging procedures.
  • Knowledge of radiation protection practices and CT dose optimization principles.
  • Ability to safely administer contrast media and recognize and respond to adverse reactions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, radiologists, and team members.
  • Ability to meet and maintain all background check requirements aligned with position responsibilities.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with PACS, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations, unpredictable circumstances, and diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, organizational, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability and willingness to perform job functions at all Ridgeview Imaging locations.
  • Ability to communicate in English through effective verbal and written communication.
Licenses/Certifications
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist, ARRT (R).
  • ARRT Certification in Computed Tomography (CT) required or obtained within a defined timeframe of hire.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
  • Valid state licensure, if applicable
