Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Radiologic Technologist specialized in CT to work under a radiologist's supervision. You will perform high-quality diagnostic CT examinations, ensure patient safety, and adhere to all imaging protocols and radiation protection standards.

Responsibilities include patient preparation, image acquisition, QC checks, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with clinical staff to deliver timely, accurate results. On-call coverage and ongoing training are involved.

Qualifications

  • ARRT-registered radiologic technologist (R) and CT
  • NJ Department of Health Diagnostic Radiography license required
  • BCLS/CPR certification current

Responsibilities

  • Under direction of a radiologist, perform high-quality diagnostic CT exams.
  • Ensure safety and radiation protection for patient and staff.
  • Accurately position patient and set up imaging protocols.
  • Coordinate with staff and manage workflow to meet goals.
  • Maintain equipment and perform routine QC as required.

Schedule: 9-hour shifts, 4 days per week

Summary
  • Under the direction of a radiologist, performs high quality diagnostic computer tomography examinations using ingenuity, initiative and independent judgment of patients in a safe and timely manner, as ordered by physicians. Must follow physicians' orders precisely, maintaining a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure and conform to regulations concerning the use of radiation to protect themselves, their patients, and their co-workers from unnecessary exposure.
Responsibilities
  • Communicates regularly with staff on progress toward defined goals/required results. Is open to suggestions and new ideas from staff. Provides specific feedback, coaching and corrective action when necessary.
  • Exemplifies superior customer service skills and performs service recovery.
  • Foster teamwork around staff, engage employees in the decision-making process when appropriate and values diversity.
  • Proficient in departmental and hospital information technologies such as PACS, PennChart and job specific related areas.
  • Performs all necessary preparations related to CT procedures:
  • Obtains patient history, explains the procedure, and addresses any patient concerns prior to beginning the procedure.
  • Performs all necessary checks for accuracy of the prescription, precertification/authorization if required by individual insurance companies, PennChart order and patient identification.
  • Perform all procedures following the appropriate imaging protocols. All technical factors should be appropriate for the age of the patient with consideration of the tools available for shielding and dose reduction.
  • Compiles and reviews images, provides applicable comparison studies, and prepares documentation for interpretation.
  • Performs quality control testing as required.
  • Clean, adjust and perform routine maintenance on equipment
  • stock and replenish supplies as required.
  • Responsible for coordinating all work assignments including staffing schedules and call schedules. Maintains adequate staffing according to department operating budget.
  • Assists in training and/or instruction of student technologist, new employees and ancillary personnel.
  • Participates in on-call coverage for the department, maintaining a 1-hour response time.
  • Focus energy on collaboration and not blame.
  • Works with other clinical and entity leadership in developing programs, services, and initiatives to anticipate future customer needs, build customer loyalty and generate profitable growth.
  • In conjunction with all stakeholders involved in the patient care processes, institute operational changes based on data.
  • Communicate, reinforce, and update as necessary environment of care procedures, (e.g. safety, security, hazardous materials, emergency, medical equipment, and utility management.)
  • Participates in and supports patient safety goals and initiatives.
  • Communicate roles, accountabilities, and performance measures to all staff.
  • Identify unit quality metrics, review, and track monthly communicate to the staff, and develop/implement action plans to improve performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: (In partnership with Leadership Team).
  • Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory standards and requirements, including TJC, Department of Health, funding agencies, FDA, HIPAA,and others.
  • Identify the competencies required for each patient population that employee works with (neonate, child, adolescent, young adult, middle adult and older adult
  • Assure that staff are competent to deal with age specific needs of their population.
  • Is explicit and patient when interacting with patients, family members and care givers.
  • Provides instruction to patients/caregivers allows time for questions, etc.
  • Speaks respectfully to adult patients and approaches the individual on an adult level.
  • Addresses patients with his/her full name.
  • Is always mindful of patient privacy.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (R) & (CT)
  • Radiologic Technologist (Required)
  • NJ DEP License in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Education or Equivalent Experience

Salary Range

$36.56 - $58.30/Hourly
