Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a CT Imaging Leader to oversee routine and advanced CT procedures across locations. You will guide clinical and ancillary imaging staff, ensure age-appropriate care, and uphold dose management practices.

The role also includes QA, equipment coordination, staff development, budgeting input, and maintaining documentation in EHRs. Maryland-licensed radiographer with ARRT CT and BLS is required, with leadership experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certificate in radiologic technology from an accredited program.
• ARRT (R) and CT certification; Maryland licensure preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Job Requirements

Overview Under minimal supervision, performs routine and specialized CT imaging procedures. Leads clinical and ancillary Imaging staff in CT.

• Key Responsibility 1: Executes advanced clinical competence in CT across all locations and all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient. Observes concepts of Image Wisely / Image Gently for dose reduction. Administers contrast according to facility policy.
  • Applies knowledge of CT principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation safety and physics, patient positioning and patient care skills.
  • Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Actively participates, and takes a leadership role, in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality.
  • Participates as a clinical competency evaluator for students and/or a preceptor for employee training and educational activities.
  • Actively participates in the Clinical Ladder Program, if implemented, at the individual System hospital/location, meeting and maintaining all Program standards and requirements.
• Key Responsibility 2: Leads clinical and ancillary staff of the CT department and facilitates a productive work flow for efficient department operation. Maintains inventory of departmental supplies.
• Key Responsibility 3: Performs quality assurance activities. Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions and assures proper follow-up correction by repair services. Resolves clinical/functional issues and escalates problems to the appropriate leadership.
• Key Responsibility 4: Provides feedback on staff performance; trains and orients imaging personnel in procedures, equipment, and information systems. Collaborates with departmental leadership to plan, implement, and evaluate budgetary functions, personnel performance, staff scheduling, and educational activities. Actively participates in coaching/mentoring staff in all aspects of job performance.
• Key Responsibility 5: Oversees documentation of patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.

Work Experience

• Qualifications Education Associate degree, or Certificate, in radiologic technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
• Experience 4+ years Licensures/Certifications Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R) and (CT) Licensed Radiographer - State of Maryland Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
