Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform routine and specialized diagnostic radiologic procedures under general supervision. The role covers fluoroscopy, accuracy in selecting technical factors, and patient care across locations.

The incumbent will document care in electronic records, maintain a safe environment, manage supplies, and participate in performance improvement and training activities. MD licensure and ARRT registration are required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or certificate in radiologic technology from a USDE- or CHEA-accredited program.
  • Registered with American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Licensed Radiographer - State of MD.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCLS).

Responsibilities

  • Executes basic clinical competence in general radiology including fluoroscopy across all locations and patient types; selects accurate technical factors per patient.
  • Applies radiology knowledge of anatomy, physiology, radiation protection, positioning, and patient care; complies with Joint Commission, state, federal, and departmental standards.
  • Documents accurate patient care activity in electronic health records systems.
  • Maintains a safe and appropriate work environment; manages supplies and informs when reorders are needed; reports equipment/environment issues per policy.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and in student/employee training and education.

Education

Associate Degree, or Certificate, in radiologic technology from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education (USDE) or Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Key Responsibilities
  • Key Responsibility 1: Executes basic clinical competence in general radiology including fluoroscopy, in all locations across all patient types. Selects accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis and demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient.
  • Key Responsibility 2: Applies knowledge of radiology principles and practices, including anatomy and physiology, radiation protection and physics, radiographic positioning and patient care skills. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal and departmental regulatory compliance standards.
  • Key Responsibility 3: Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems.
  • Key Responsibility 4: Ensures a safe and appropriate work environment. Maintains supplies and inventory in area. Informs appropriate colleague when supplies need to be ordered from outside vendors. Documents and reports related equipment/environmental problems in accordance with policy.
  • Key Responsibility 5: Actively participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality. Actively participates in student and employee training and educational activities.
Education
