Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program is required.
• New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required.
• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.) is required.
• Prior radiology technology experience is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for examination.
• Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patient of anxiety.
• Ensures patient is screened according to protocol and confirms consent when necessary.
• Positions patient on examination table for optimal testing.
• Sets up equipment to administer the proper procedure promptly.
• Performs CT scan procedures as prescribed by ordering physician.
• Calculates and enters number of scans to be obtained.
• Obtains images of anatomical area of interest.
• Ensures proper views and techniques; determines need for further evaluation.
• Collects data and calculations for physician interpretation.
• Monitors patient condition during examination and reports changes.
• Reviews images in computer system and ensures data accuracy.
• Gathers previous related patient reports as required.
• Performs minor repairs and frequent calibration checks on equipment.
• Adheres to Infection Control guidelines and maintains cleanliness.
• Performs related duties as required.
