Job summary

Center For Family Services in Gloucester County, NJ seeks a Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate Coordinator for the SERV program. The role recruits, trains, and manages volunteer staff to provide 24-hour accompaniments and advocacy to sexual violence survivors.

You will collaborate with law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and SART, coordinating trainings and outreach throughout the county while ensuring accurate records and program statistics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis
• Experience working with people one-to-one
• Demonstrate sensitivity toward victims' needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Public speaking is required
• Must complete 40 hours of NJ Confidential Sexual Violence Advocacy Training
• Valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving
• Vehicle with current insurance and registration

Responsibilities

• Provide training to new and existing volunteers and staff (40 hours for Sexual Violence Advocacy)
• Ensure hotline coverage by scheduling volunteers
• Provide 24-hour back-up for hotline calls and accompaniments
• Train law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and SART team members
• Market SERV program and volunteer opportunities county-wide
• Interview volunteers, run reference checks, maintain files
• Submit volunteer stipend requests and track hours
• Attend County SART and NJCASA meetings
• Prepare training outlines and organize materials
• Carry out additional tasks as needed by supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Center For Family Services is looking for a responsible and organized individual to fill the Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate Coordinator position in the Services Empowering Rights of Victims (SERV) program. SERV provides crisis intervention, counseling, and support to survivors of sexual violence, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The program provides personalized care to help people follow a path to healing. The CSVA Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training and management of the Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate volunteer staff to provide 24-hour accompaniments and advocacy services to victims of sexual violence. The CSVA Coordinator reports directly to the Program Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide training and education to new and existing volunteers and staff- 40-hours for Sexual Violence Advocacy.
• Ensure hotline schedule is covered by calling volunteers and soliciting their services to assist sexual assault violence victims
• Provide 24-hour back up for hotline calls & accompaniments to address problems with activations
• Provide trainings to law enforcement, health care professionals, and SART team members
• Market SERV program and volunteer opportunities throughout County.
• Interview potential volunteers, complete reference checks on volunteers, maintain volunteer files, and submit volunteer stipend to finance.
• Complete program statistic forms pertaining to volunteer hours and services provided to victims for advocate certification
• Attend County SART meetings, NJCASA meetings, and community meetings
• Prepare training outlines, secure speakers; manage database, applications, and organize training materials
• Carry out other tasks as deemed necessary by supervisor to ensure success of SERV program

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree/ work experience may be substituted for education on a year to year basis
• Experience working with people, especially on a one to one basis
• Must demonstrate sensitivity toward the needs of the victims
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Public Speaking is required
• Must complete 40 hours of the New Jersey State Confidential Sexual Violence Advocacy Training provided by SERV
• Current driver's license with a driving record of at least three years
• Vehicle with current insurance and registration
