The CSA Discounts and Claims Controller will be responsible for supporting GE Aerospace’s strategic priority of a Lean monthly close that generates accurate, timely and GAAP-compliant financial information for use by internal and external stakeholders. This role will serve as the primary operational accounting point of contact for discounts and claims accounting within CSA and be responsible for ensuring that all related accounting tasks for GP, CF6 and GENX product lines. Key responsibilities include driving operational accounting compliance with U.S. GAAP standards, maintaining financial and operational internal controls, leading accounting process simplification and driving the implementation of FLIGHT DECK through the development of standard work and structured problem solving.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and accurate financial reporting information for use within and outside of the GE Aerospace Contractual Service Agreements Division. This includes accurate understanding and adhering to service contracts revenue recognition principles, preparing monthly journal entries, preparing balance sheet commentary, preparing account reconciliations, and driving closing and reporting process improvements.
  • Ownership of Deferred Revenue Balance Reconciliation and Topside governance.
  • Drive simplification across product lines thereby eliminating waste.
  • Execution of internal controls and identification and implementation of process improvement.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Focus on team & department priorities within operating unit, including driving a more timely close and product line balance sheet reporting.
  • Drive consistent adherence to U.S. GAAP, GE GAP, and GE Aerospace SOPs.
  • Drive adoption of FLIGHT DECK through consistent application of Lean principles, the development of standard work, and the use of structured problem solving.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited university or college.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting.
  • Strong process improvement mindset.
  • Good knowledge of SAP and Oracle functionality.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s degree in accounting and/or Certified Public Accountant.
  • Previous experience with SAP or Oracle.
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability.
  • Proven capability to plan and execute several projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to deliver results on time.
  • Ability to influence and drive results in a matrixed organization.
  • Ability to anticipate, communicate, report and resolve challenges.
