Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking a CS SPD Non Certified Technician for the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus. The role involves decontamination, inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of reprocessed instruments, with emphasis on case cart management and compliance with standards.

The caregiver will work evenings from 3:00pm-11:00pm or 11:00pm-7:30am; first 90 days may have daytime training. Department values teamwork and patient-centered care within a world-class facility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Sterile Processing certification (CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) required within 18 months after hire.
• Ability to use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties and document sterilization loads.
• Military experience in related roles will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide case care management.
• Properly handle equipment, instruments and chemicals.
• Perform preventative maintenance.
• Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.
• Scan, sort, inspect and assemble, wrap and label instruments by instrument list as documented in the procedure.
• Perform record keeping.

As a Non-Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms carefor patients.In this role, you willprovide safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument inspection, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment. Youwillbe responsible forcase cart management and ensuring compliance with departmental standards

A caregiver in this position will work evenings from 3:00pm - 11:00pm or 11:00pm - 7:30am. For the first 90-days during new hire training period, a caregiver in this role will work 7:00am to 3:30pm.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Provide case care management.

• Properly handle equipment,instrumentsand chemicals.

• Perform preventative maintenance.

• Observe personal protective equipment standards in the decontamination process.

• Scan, sort, inspect and assemble,wrapand label instruments by instrument list as documented in the procedure.

• Perform record keeping.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Sterile Processing certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER) isrequiredwithin18 monthsafter hire, unless an extension is granted at the purview of leadership

• Can use the computerized instrument tracking system to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documentingsterilizationloads, and other tasks

• Militaryexperience ,such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR),AircraftMaintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), or similar, will be considered

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• One year ofHealthcareexperience or a similar background in Mechanical/Manufacturing Assembly

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
• Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
• Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
• Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
