Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and remove electrical components, assemblies, and subassemblies.

• Route, label, and terminate cables in terminal blocks and connectors; ensure quality and safety standards.
• Install, connect, and verify instrumentation interfaces and readout systems; support testing and troubleshooting.
• Prepare and maintain clear written documentation for assembly, wiring, testing, and installation activities.

Position Summary

As a Cryomidule Technician you will support the assembly, installation, testing, and documentation of instrumentation systems used in the production of PIP-II SSR1 and LB650 Cryomodules. You will provide hands‑on technical support for electrical assemblies, control interfaces, instrumentation integration, and production testing activities while working closely with engineers, technicians, and production staff.

This position involves hands‑on work in laboratory and production environments supporting the manufacture and testing of PIP-II cryomodules. The technician will frequently work with electrical equipment, instrumentation systems, cabling, and related hardware while collaborating closely with engineering and technical staff.

Responsibilities

Assembly and Fabrication

• Fabricate, assemble, install, and remove electrical components, assemblies, and subassemblies.
• Perform mechanical and electrical integration of instrumentation systems used in cryomodule production and testing.
• Utilize hand and power tools to complete assembly and installation activities.

Electrical Wiring and Cable Assembly

• Wire custom control and instrumentation interface boxes using electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
• Assemble, route, label, and terminate cables in terminal blocks, connectors, and other electrical interfaces.
• Ensure wiring and cable assemblies meet quality and safety standards.

Instrumentation Support

• Install, connect, and verify instrumentation interfaces and readout systems.
• Support testing and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems.
• Assist with setup and maintenance of production and test equipment as required.

Documentation

• Prepare and maintain clear, accurate written documentation for assembly, wiring, testing, and installation activities.
• Record test results, configuration changes, and production data in accordance with departmental procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated soldering experience.
• Proven ability to read and interpret electrical schematics commonly used in industrial control systems or equivalent environments.
• Experience using standard hand tools and power tools.
• Ability to safely work from ladders and elevated work platforms.
• Ability to routinely lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 15 pounds.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with instrumentation, controls, or industrial electrical systems.
• Experience assembling and troubleshooting custom electrical or electronic equipment.
• Familiarity with laboratory, accelerator, cryogenic, or production environments.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
