Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Division Director for Cryogenics within the Accelerator Directorate to lead cryogenic operations, engineering, and reliability across the LCLS-II cryoplant and related infrastructure.

The role requires directing staffing, budget, and maintenance programs, driving safety, operational readiness, and advancement of technical practices within a large, 24/7 complex facility, onsite at SLAC.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or related field with 10+ years in engineering, operations, technical infrastructure, or large technical programs.
Experience leading large, 24x7 technical operations with multidisciplinary teams and significant infrastructure.
Experience leading a large organization of technical and operations staff through subordinate managers.
Experience defining and implementing engineering, maintenance, and operational best practices and processes.
Experience managing staff in matrixed organizations.
Ability to resolve complex technical and organizational issues and make sound decisions in a collaborative environment.
Strong cross-functional relationship building and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities

Lead complex technical organization responsible for cryogenic systems supporting accelerator operations.
Ensure reliable operation and readiness of LCLS-II cryoplant and infrastructure.
Direct division resources including staffing, budget, infrastructure, and maintenance activities.
Lead maintenance planning, lifecycle management, and reliability improvements for cryogenic systems.
Promote disciplined operations, safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Establish ES&H goals and objectives for the organization.
