Job summary

Stanford University is seeking an Accelerator Technologist II - Cryogenics Plant Operator to support a 24/7 cryogenics facility. The role focuses on monitoring, operating, and maintaining cryogenic systems and instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.

The position requires adherence to safety and planning protocols on-site at SLAC. Responsibilities include instrument calibration, data logging, and collaboration with engineers and researchers to troubleshoot and optimize the cryogenic plant.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or vocational training; 2+ years lab/industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to diagnose issues in helium cryogenic processes and read drawings.
• Strong communication with engineers and operators in a diverse team.
• Experience with cryogenic instrumentation, controls, and basic electronics.
• Proficient with hand and power tools and basic math/compute skills.
• Valid driver’s license for on-site operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust control functions for cryogenic systems.
• Operate and diagnose complex cryogenic equipment and log data.
• Maintain equipment records and preventative maintenance.
• Coordinate work with experimenters, engineers, and other groups.
• Use calibration and maintenance equipment to ensure performance.
• Work weekends/holidays and potential overtime as required.
