Job summary

Element Materials Technology is hiring a Fluids Engineer in Morongo Valley, CA. You will perform testing, help design system P&IDs, and support cryogenic/high‑pressure assemblies. Responsibilities include documenting results and interfacing with scientists and engineers to improve performance.

The role requires a Master’s in mechanical engineering (or related), 3+ years in cryogenics, and familiarity with CAD tools and safety standards. DOE applies; on-site position.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cryogenics, vacuum insulation, cryogenic liquid transfer, fittings, valves.
• Knowledge of cryogenic fluids and low-temperature materials.
• Experience with cryogenic and high-pressure fittings.
• Experience with ASME VIII and B31.3 piping and pressure vessel codes.
• 3D CAD software experience (SolidWorks or equivalent).
• Experience with heavy rotating machinery (compressors, turbines, pumps).
• Willingness to perform long-duration assembly/testing and iterative improvements.
• Strong communication to report progress and provide recommendations.
• Cryogenic certification is a plus.
• Experience with hydrogen handling, safety and permitting is a plus.
• Experience with PLC and/or LabVIEW programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop system P&ID and procedures from customer SOW.
• Provide counsel with data analysis to coworkers and customers.
• Oversee complex technical problem solving.
• Select sensors and instrumentation for process variables.
• Collaborate to integrate control systems for cryogenic storage systems.
• Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain documentation including specs and manuals.
