Job summary

Norwegian Cruise Line's Pride of America is seeking a Head Wine Steward to oversee the onboard wine program, lead wine service in Main Dining Rooms, train staff, manage inventory, and ensure proper requisitioning and profitability.

The role requires at least two years of wine steward or bartender experience on a cruise ship, strong supervisory skills, and solid knowledge of wine products; proficiency with Word, Excel, Fidelio Cruise and Micros is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Wine Steward or Bartender on a cruise ship or equivalent hotel/bar experience.
• Advanced supervisory knowledge to run a shift in a large restaurant or service bar.
• Advanced knowledge/experience in meeting and exceeding revenue targets, service standards and guest satisfaction.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with beverage and wine products.
• Intermediate to advanced English verbal and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Meet and exceed forecasted wine sales for the ship.
• Achieve guest satisfaction targets established for wine service.
• Meet target cost of sales for the beverage operation as per budgets.
• Ensure wine service standards and sequences are followed by staff on duty.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations.
• Resolve service and product deficiencies and address guest comments.
• Maintain/guard records and reports for staff and operation.
• Plan and manage ongoing staff training in wine sales using approved materials.
• Report maintenance needs and ensure equipment safety.
• Assist in achieving beverage department budgets including expenses and manning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
