Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. seeks a Chef de Partie to oversee a kitchen section aboard our cruise ship, ensuring dishes are prepared and plated to the highest standard. You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef to create menus and lead a team of junior cooks.

You’ll monitor quality, portion control, and presentation while maintaining food safety and hygiene. German language proficiency (BL4) is required to communicate with crew and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Chef de Partie or similar in high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• German proficiency at Berlitz Level 4 (A2+).
• Culinary school diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a section of the kitchen to ensure high-standard dish prep and presentation on board.
• Collaborate with Head Chef and Sous Chef to plan and execute menus.
• Train and supervise junior chefs and kitchen staff.
• Maintain food quality, portion control and presentation standards.
• Communicate in German (BL4) to understand instructions, label items, and report issues.
• Ensure food safety and hygiene regulations are followed.
• Assist with ordering and stock control to minimize waste and manage budget.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new techniques to improve menus.
