Qualifications

  • Must be a self-identified consumer of mental health services.
  • Personal history of mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
  • Peer Support Specialist Certification.
  • Ability to establish positive, supportive relationships with individuals receiving services.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, compassion, and respect for the individuals served.

Responsibilities

  • Provide social and emotional support to adult CRRU consumers.
  • Advocate for consumers and assist them in accessing appropriate resources and services.
  • Provide information and support to help consumers make informed decisions regarding their recovery and wellness.
  • Build supportive, trusting relationships with consumers while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Work in partnership with consumers and treatment team members to identify and support individual goals.
  • Encourage consumers to develop skills that promote independence, self-direction, recovery, and overall wellness.
  • Utilize personal experience and knowledge of the recovery process to provide hope, encouragement, and support to others.
  • Participate as a member of the treatment team and contribute to the development and implementation of consumer-centered services.
  • Maintain required documentation and follow agency policies, procedures, and applicable program requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary: $32,500 per year

Position Summary

The Peer Support Specialist provides social and emotional support, advocacy, and consumer information to adults receiving services through the CRRU program. This position works collaboratively with consumers and members of the treatment team to promote recovery, wellness, independence, and self-directed goals.

The Peer Support Specialist uses their own lived experience and understanding of the recovery process to encourage and empower individuals as they work toward achieving their personal recovery and wellness goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Minimum Education Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Must be a self-identified consumer of mental health services with a personal history of mental illness and/or substance use disorder.
  • Must have an understanding of the recovery process and the ability to use personal lived experience to support and encourage others.
  • Peer Support Specialist Certification
  • Ability to establish positive, supportive relationships with individuals receiving services.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, compassion, and respect for the individuals served.
Preferred Experience:
  • Previous experience working in a crisis, residential, or behavioral health setting is preferred.
