• Familiarity with standard safety equipment such as signage and hand signals is preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and safety protocols related to pedestrian and traffic control on a military installation.
• Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods of time with high levels of vehicular and pedestrian activity.
• Must be able to recognize and appropriately respond to unexpected or emergency situations involving individuals or vehicles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals, such as: children, parents, and uniformed personnel.
• Must demonstrate good judgement to act calmly under pressure or in fast-changing conditions (i.e., adverse weather conditions, sudden traffic surges, or emergencies).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and maintain post throughout shift.
