Job Description

The City of Kettering Engineering Department is seeking to fill Regular Part-time Crossing Guard positions, working 10-12 hours per week during the school year.

1. Job responsibilities include ensuring the safety and efficient crossing of the street by school children within and near school crosswalks.
2. Supervise school safety patrols and elementary school children during their travel to and from school at designated intersections along city roadways.
3. Participate in periodic functions or events related to student safety patrols or public outreach, representing the City of Kettering.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Knowledge of safe crossing procedures, pedestrian and bicycle regulations, motor vehicle laws, and operational standards for student safety patrols and crossing guards.
• Prior experience working with children and involvement in traffic safety or life safety programs is preferred.

Compensation

Pay range is $15.15 to $20.41 per hour. Benefits include paid sick leave, vacation leave, and holiday pay.
