Job summary

Academy District 20 in Colorado Springs seeks a Crossing Guard for Discovery Canyon Campus Elementary School to direct pedestrians and traffic for student safety. You will report for work as scheduled, interact with students and the public, and follow district policies. Requires First Aid/CPR and a high school diploma.

The position is part-time, outdoor, with a set schedule and wage range. The role involves assisting with safe crossings, guiding visitors, and coordinating with local authorities

Responsibilities

• Directs the action of children and traffic at an assigned crosswalk to ensure safe crossing.
• Directs visitors to the office.
• Escorts children across the street and parking lots.
• Issues verbal warnings, reports misconduct, and requests assistance when needed.
• Maintains communications with the principal and local authorities regarding incidents at assigned locations.
• Monitors student behavior and adherence to rules.
• Supervises parking lots and school grounds.

Directs the action of children and traffic at assigned crosswalks in order to ensure safe crossing of students.

• Directs action of children at an assigned crosswalk in order to ensure safe crossing
• Directs visitors to office
• Escorts children across the street and parking lots
• Issues verbal warnings, reports misconduct, and requests assistance from appropriate personnel as required
• Maintains communications with the building principal and/or Colorado Springs Police Department, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, or Air Force Security Police regarding incidents that occur at assigned locations that could potentially impact the safety of pedestrians
• Monitors student(s) behavior, ensuring their compliance to district/building rules, policies, and regulations
• Supervises parking lots and school grounds
