Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System seeks a Clinical Nurse for UMMS Staffing (USC) to deliver safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered care across inpatient, procedural, surgical, and ambulatory settings.

As part of the internal resource workforce, you will be deployed to clinical units based on organizational need and validated competencies, while maintaining MD RN licensure and required certifications.

Qualifications

• Current Maryland RN license or eligibility through Nurse Licensure Compact.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Unit-specific certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS) required based on unit competencies.
• Minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience within the past 12 months.
• STABLE and EFM certification for L&D.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct and indirect nursing care appropriate to the patient population and acuity of the assigned unit.
• Independently performs comprehensive patient assessments, implements nursing and medical interventions, evaluates patient responses, and documents care in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborates with patients, families, charge nurses, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity, safety, and quality of care.
• Safely administers medications and utilizes clinical equipment and technology in accordance with policy and validated competency.
• Delegates and supervises nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act and organizational policy.
