Job description

Job Summary

Assists engineers in applying technical principles of metrology as related to test systems and processes.

Responsibilities
  • Provides product and component testing using a range of measurement devices, from hand gauges and multimeters to complex measurement systems.
  • Coordinates Measurement Machines and Multifunction Calibrators.
  • Serves as a technical resource to assist lab managers, engineers and customers in interpreting product requirements, selecting appropriate test methods/technology, and analyzing and interpreting measurement data.
  • Provides basic programming, training, and operation of measurement and test equipment.
  • Develops and documents testing methods and procedures.
  • Manages indirect material purchases of lab consumables.
  • Maintains housekeeping in the work area in keeping with a high precision testing environment.
  • Manages proper maintenance and calibration of the measurement and test equipment.
  • Adheres to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Demonstrates specific technical skills (e.g., Dimensional Metrology, Electrical Metrology, General Laboratory/Quality systems) to support the position.
  • Understands and applies appropriate company and department rules and guidelines.
  • Works with and trains apprentices and technicians.
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.
  • Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.
  • Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures.
  • Leads and participates in improvement projects.
  • Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.
  • Knows and complies with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality as required.
  • Participates in self- and team-audits and associated corrective action.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required, to get the job done.
  • Leads and coordinates multiple tests/projects concurrently, ensuring efficient execution.
  • Facilitates the setup (hardware and software) of rig rooms or test cells and trains team members to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Provides guidance on troubleshooting and setting up test cells or other testing areas.
  • Conducts tests in test areas or cells when team members are unavailable.
  • Identifies and addresses daily needs, leveraging expertise and involving other team members to resolve issues promptly.
Competencies
  • Data Acquisition: Prepares samples, verifies equipment calibration and performs tests according to an approved standard procedure or work instruction to ensure data can be trusted and delivered.
  • Data Reporting: Prepares documentation that clearly organizes and presents testing methods, instrument settings, data and analysis to enable accurate conclusions and recommendations.
  • Product Function Test System Design: Interprets test equipment specifications from standards or lab customer requirements; selects and integrates appropriate equipment, instrumentation and software to control boundary conditions and collect measurement data; assesses capability of the lab equipment against the requirements and support infrastructure.
  • Test Article Build: Assembles test articles according to test requirements, including all necessary installation or accommodations for instrumentation, in a manner that allows the test articles to successfully undergo product functional test.
  • Test Setup and Configuration: Interprets test plan to determine optimal location and orientation within a test space in accordance with local safety and environmental requirements and fabricates required system with appropriate materials.

Education and Certifications
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required with Department of Labor Certification
  • Associate's degree from an accredited program in a related field and at least two years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
Experience

Department of Labor Certification or four years of experience/education equivalent accomplished through either a Bachelor's degree in a related field or an associate's degree in a related field with at least two years of relevant experience. This is a Level 4 Technician role.

Job Details

On-site with flexibility. 100% On‑Site. Office type. Relocation package available. Work hours: 7 am to 3:30 pm (with 30 min break) or 7 am to 3 pm (without break).
