Job summary

Steam Logistics in Laredo, TX seeks a Cross-Border Procurement and Pricing Manager to develop and execute procurement strategies for U.S.-Mexico transportation. You will collaborate with internal teams to align buying approaches with company goals and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The role focuses on optimizing procurement and pricing for cross-border logistics, building a carrier network, negotiating rates, and maintaining carrier relationships to maximize efficiency

Qualifications

• Understands cross-border market trends and Mexico regulations.
• 3-5 years of experience in cross-border freight operations between the U.S. and Mexico.
• Solid analytical experience in Excel required.
• Experience dealing with carriers and customs processes in border crossing markets: Laredo/Nuevo Laredo-Colombia, San Diego/Tijuana-Mexicali, Nogales, El Paso/Ciudad Juarez, McAllen-Brownsville-Pharr/Reynosa.
• Experience with Cargowise preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop a carrier network to handle direct shipments to or from Mexico.
• Develop carrier relationships to effectively support customers.
• Has daily contact with carriers to determine availability and negotiate transportation rates.
• Maintains and grows relationships with carrier accounts.
• Negotiate Rates with current providers while ensuring continued service.
• Research new carriers within the market, generates leads, and develops new carrier relationships.
• Serve as initial point of contact for agents and Mexican carrier partner.

The Opportunity-

The Cross-Border Procurement and Pricing Manager at Steam Logistics is responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies for cross-border transportation between the U.S. and Mexico. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with company objectives, and ensure compliance with relevant laws & regulations.

Overall, this role involves overseeing the procurement and pricing aspects of cross-border logistics operations. The goal is to maximize efficiency and profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market.

• Develop carrier relationships to effectively support customers.
• Has daily contact with carriers to determine availability and negotiate transportation rates.

• Bilingual: Must be fluent in Spanish & English (reading, writing and verbal)
