Job summary

The D.E.Shaw Group is seeking a motivated risk analyst to join its Risk team in New York. You will analyze investment strategies, monitor exposures, and support capital allocation, partnering with investment teams in a collegial environment.

Two to five years of relevant experience in risk analysis or a quantitative field, a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline, and strong communication of complex findings to varied audiences are required.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of relevant experience in risk analysis, financial markets, or a related quantitative field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical discipline; a graduate degree is preferred.
• Proficiency in applying statistical concepts to financial markets and securities.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Alertness and responsiveness to changing market conditions, entrepreneurial approach to investigating complex problems.
• Familiarity with financial instruments and risk management concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and assess the firm's risk exposures across multiple asset classes and strategies.
• Develop and enhance data visualizations and analytical tools to support risk reporting.
• Collaborate with investment teams to identify, investigate, and communicate material changes in portfolio performance and positioning.
• Conduct in-depth analyses of business and event-driven risks, providing insights to senior stakeholders.
• Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of risk management processes and technology platforms.
