The D. E. Shaw group seeks an analytically oriented technical strategist to join the DESIM portfolio strategy team. You will develop investment products, design enhancements, and model risk to support institutional clients globally.

Ideal candidates have a STEM/finance degree, basic Python, and strong communication. The role emphasizes rigorous analyses and collaboration with portfolio strategy and investment teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, finance, or economics; an advanced degree is a plus.
• Basic programming in Python (or similar languages) and a deep interest in developing well-structured, testable code.
• Analytical, curious and innovative mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex ideas.
• Proficiency with numerical and statistical methods is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and customization of new investment products through quantitative analysis and portfolio design.
• Research, design, and implement enhancements to existing investment strategies, focusing on portfolio construction, risk modeling, and strategy robustness.
• Perform in-depth portfolio and risk analysis to identify weaknesses, concentration risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Produce clear, rigorous technical analyses and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Support investor engagements by providing technical insight on portfolio construction, risk, and performance.
