Job summary
Vylor in Johnston, IA is seeking an Agronomic Data Science & Pathology Intern to join our fast-paced R&D team. You will model and analyze agricultural and weather data, develop Python code for high-performance Unix/Linux environments, and collaborate on agile projects to create software solutions for growers.
Ideal candidates are enrolled in a Masters or PhD in math, statistics, plant pathology, data science, or CS with a 3.5+ GPA, strong problem-solving, and hands-on Python data analysis
Qualifications
- Enrollment in a Masters or Doctoral degree program in mathematics, statistics, plant pathology, data science, computer science or related agricultural engineering field is preferred.
- 3.5+ current GPA
- Hands-on experience with python, data analysis and statistics is required.
- Experience with ML and mechanistic modelling for mixed datasets is a plus.
- Affinity with agriculture, pathology, epidemiology and biological systems is beneficial.
Responsibilities
- Model, integrate, and analyze agricultural and weather data
- Plant disease and pest management modeling in crops such as corn, soybeans and canola
- Develop and execute Python code in high performance distributed Unix/Linux environments
- Work collaboratively on agile research teams to create innovative software solutions for growers
- Design, develop, and support a variety of high-performance software solutions for R&D
- Continuously learn and share your technical knowledge with leaders and stakeholders
