Job summary
University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center (UM BWMC) is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to deliver high-quality anesthesia care in collaboration with anesthesiologists and surgeons. The role supports education, safety, quality, and research missions within the Department of Anesthesiology.
CRNAs provide care across acuity levels in operating rooms and other areas, with opportunities to practice in obstetrics and regional anesthesia.
Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing and accredited nurse anesthesia program.
- Two years of anesthesia care experience preferred but not required.
- Valid state RN license and APRN recognition.
- CRNA credential by AANA at start date.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
- NPI and Taxonomy code required at hire time.
Responsibilities
- Provides pre-anesthetic preparation and patient evaluation; obtains informed consent.
- Develops and implements anesthetic plan; initiates anesthesia techniques and manages regional anesthesia.
- Performs anesthesia induction, ventilation, emergence, and post-anesthesia care.
- Performs peri-anesthetic monitoring per current standards.
- Manages fluids, electrolytes, and acid-base balance; responds to abnormal findings.
- Communicates changes in patient condition to attending anesthesiologist/surgeon; collaborates across teams.
