Umatilla, Oregon Area | Field-Based Position

Alpine Power Systems, established in 1963, is a nationwide provider of critical power solutions. We specialize in backup power systems, including batteries, UPS systems, generators, power equipment, and renewable energy solutions.

We are currently seeking a Critical Power Field Service Technician to support our customer locations in the Umatilla, Oregon area. This is a field-based, customer-facing position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, working independently, and providing reliable solutions in mission-critical environments.

Candidates do not need to reside in Oregon. We welcome qualified applicants from the surrounding region, including nearby communities in Washington, who are able to reliably travel to customer locations in the Umatilla area.

Extensive Training & Development

At Alpine Power Systems, we invest in the development of our technicians. Our extensive training program combines classroom instruction with hands-on technical training in our dedicated training lab. New technicians receive practical experience with the equipment and systems they will encounter in the field, along with ongoing safety and technical training to support their continued development and career growth.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer facilities to evaluate equipment, identify service needs, and provide solutions.
• Install, service, maintain, and repair a variety of battery and critical power systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on existing systems and equipment.
• Troubleshoot battery systems, chargers, UPS systems, and related critical power equipment.
• Develop a strong understanding of the features and capabilities of multiple product lines.
• Read and interpret equipment layouts, drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, meters, and testing equipment.
• Accurately complete required service documentation and reports.
• Follow Alpine Power Systems and customer safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach while working independently at customer locations.
• Provide exceptional service and strive to exceed customer expectations.
• Travel and work occasional overtime, weekends, or after-hours as customer and business needs require.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to meet and maintain Alpine Power Systems' driver insurability requirements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card, as required.
• Basic mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Ability to work in industrial, warehouse, data center, and other customer-site environments.
• Ability to safely lift and move 70+ pounds and perform physical duties that may include prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and working in various positions.
• Ability to safely work around electrical and battery systems while following required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Ability to meet applicable customer-specific background, badging, training, and site-access requirements.
• Ability to maintain required licenses, certifications, training, and customer credentials throughout employment.

Preferred Experience & Certifications

The following experience and certifications are preferred but not required:

• Experience with industrial batteries, UPS systems, generators, chargers, or other critical power equipment.
• Electrical or mechanical field service experience.
• Knowledge of battery testing equipment and related safety procedures.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and equipment layout drawings.
• Experience working in data centers, industrial facilities, or other mission-critical environments.
• Current OSHA 10 certification is highly preferred.
• Current NFPA 70E training/certification is highly preferred.
• Candidates who already possess OSHA 10 and/or NFPA 70E credentials are encouraged to apply, as these qualifications demonstrate familiarity with the safety practices and work environments relevant to this position.
• Alpine Power Systems will provide required OSHA 10 and NFPA 70E training for qualified candidates who do not currently hold these credentials.

Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of applicable pre-employment requirements, including:
