Job summary

ERG is seeking a Generator Technician at the Naval Support Facility Indian Head in Maryland to support inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of emergency and standby power systems.

Candidates should have 3+ years of experience with diesel and natural gas generators, read electrical schematics, and follow safety and regulatory requirements. This full-time role offers competitive benefits and opportunities to work on mission-critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining and repairing generator systems.
Experience with diesel, natural gas, and propane generators.
Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; PM program experience.
U.S. citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance; safety-focused.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel, natural gas, and propane-powered generators.
Conduct routine operational testing, load bank testing, and emergency power system exercises.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, and control system issues.
Review manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer specs to diagnose problems.
Respond to generator failures and emergency service calls to restore critical power.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental regs, and client procedures.
