Position Overview:

Astound Broadband is currently searching for a Critical Infrastructure Technician in our Oregon Coast area. The Critical Infrastructure Technician plays an important role within the Network Operations Team, supporting the operations of our critical facilities, including cable head ends, hub sites, datacenters, roadside cabinets, and third party colocation facilities. This work is critical in maintaining uninterrupted operations of these facilities supporting our network infrastructure that our end customer’s services rely on. This role supports the deployment, installation, maintenance, repair and other related activities of our facilities and related infrastructure from space, power, and cooling, as well as supporting infrastructure including maintaining facility cleanliness and organization.

The primary position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :

  • Support the maintenance of critical systems including, electrical (AC and DC), HVAC and related mechanical systems, Fire suppression, access and other facilities related systems. Work with internal and external resources to conduct needed preventative maintenance work required to maintain systems in good working order.
  • Oversee contractors working at sites, ensuring the work is being completed, safely, on time. Work to address issues in real time, resolving items before impacting systems and ultimately customer’s services.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to identify current and future facility needs to support the ongoing growth of the business.
  • Work with outside vendors while coordinating with internal stakeholders to successfully execute facility work, minimizing downtime and customer impact while staying on time, including supporting new site build outs.
  • Work to support preventative maintenance programs, ensuring successful ongoing operations of the facilities. Work with management and key stakeholders to maintain emergency procedures for facilities and related systems.
  • Conduct routine site visits, inspecting critical infrastructure systems ensuring proper operation, documenting current status and any issues to be addresses, communicating any issues and needs to management.
  • Work to ensure facilities documentation is kept up to date at all times; ensuring that vendor provided documentation is accurate and recorded properly. Ability to conduct site audits and surveys to maintain accurate documentation on an ongoing basis.
  • Establish and Maintain good relationships with internal customers and external vendors.
  • Serve as a point of contact for critical facilities issues; ability to be part of an on call rotation and able to dispatch to support emergency situations 24/7.
  • Always maintain a 100% safe working environment, adhering to both company safely training and polices as well as industry safety standards.
  • Must hold valid driver's license and maintain clean driving record.
  • Must live within 2 hours of Pacific City Oregon.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Trade school or equivalent preferred
  • Industry certifications in HVAC, Power systems, or related facilities infrastructure preferred

Our ideal candidate will possess :

  • Previous experience working on technical facilities infrastructure, preferably in the telecommunications or datacenter related business
  • Computer skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products/Google Docs/Gmail.
  • Strong critical-thinking, attention to detail and time management skills are required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without supervision.
  • Ability to travel (company vehicle provided) within assigned service areas, up to 100+mi radius of assigned reporting location.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Base Salary: The base salary range in Oregon for this position is $35.50/hr - $42.00/hr, plus opportunities for bonus, benefits and commission, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities. It is specific to Oregon and may not be applicable to other locations.
