Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (JLL) is seeking an Operating Engineer to maintain mission-critical infrastructure at a San Diego facility. You will manage building systems, perform routine rounds, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical equipment, and ensure continuous uptime in a demanding research environment.

The role emphasizes prevention, rapid response to alarms, and coordination with vendors, with a focus on safety, compliance, and accurate documentation to support client operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least four years in critical environment operations or engineering.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and HVAC systems including rooftop units.
• Experience with backup power: generators and UPS.
• Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure uptime.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical equipment.
• Coordinate with third-party contractors and ensure safety/compliance.
• Respond to emergencies and alarms to restore systems quickly.
• Maintain accurate work orders and parts inventory.
