Job summary

Cogent Communications in Overland Park, KS is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee power systems, HVAC, fire protection, and building automation for large commercial facilities. You will manage industrial power gear, emergency generation, UPS, BAS programming, and coordinate with vendors to maintain reliable operations while ensuring EPA compliance and safety.

The role requires 10+ years in facility management, strong project-management skills, and a proven ability to diagnose

Qualifications

• 10+ years of facility management experience with ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and technical issues.
• Experience coordinating with vendors and managing projects.
• Strong understanding of building systems and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Power (industrial/ large commercial): manage commercial power switch gear, emergency power generation, UPS systems, DC plant, battery plants, EPA-compliant air quality.
• HVAC (industrial/ large commercial): oversee centrifugal/screw compressors, air handling and distribution, self-contained units, HVAC control systems, cooling towers.
• Fire Systems: maintain alarm, suppression, clean agent systems, pumps, water systems, CO2 sensors.
• Building Automation Systems (BAS): system administration, programming, architecture, network troubleshooting, peripheral devices.

Compensation

[Starting / Initial] Base Salary Pay Range: $90K - $100K/yr.

Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs.

Qualifications

Required

• 10 + years of experience in facility management with a skillset of diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and technical issues and finding solutions to correct facility system problems

Preferred

• 5 + years of experience with project management/project implementation supporting less experienced engineers
• 10 + years working directly with vendors and reviewing vendor methods of procedures

Physical Requirements

• Frequently remains in a sitting/stationary position during the workday
• Operates a computer and performs desk-based computer tasks continually, frequently viewing a computer screen
