Job summary

Colorado State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Technician for Critical Care Services. You will provide comprehensive critical care nursing for small animal and exotic patients, including triage, stabilization, treatment, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation of patient status.

You will collaborate with students, interns, residents, faculty clinicians, and clients to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of optimal patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited veterinary technician program with greater than 2 years' experience in veterinary medicine.
• Registered as a Veterinary Technician (VT) or Provisional Veterinary Technician (PVT) through DORA.
• SUBSTITUTIONS: 3+ years of veterinary medicine experience in lieu of formal program.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing for small animal and exotic patients, including triage, stabilization, treatment, monitoring, and ongoing evaluation of patient status.
• Perform advanced clinical procedures such as catheterization, fluid and drug administration, blood sampling and analysis, emergency anesthesia, CPR initiation and direction.
• Collaborate with students, interns, residents, and clinicians to support diagnosis, treatment planning, and delivery of optimal patient care.
• Mentor and train students and staff, assist with orientation and training of new personnel.
