Job summary

NeuroRestorative, a part of Sevita, is seeking a Transport Respiratory Therapist to deliver direct respiratory care to subacute patients during transports. The role involves planning, implementing and evaluating respiratory care, acting as a resource for the health-care team, and participating in in-service education to improve care delivery.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved program in Respiratory Therapy. Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care Technology preferred.
• Two years’ experience

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care respiratory services as assigned.
• Coordinates and monitors patient care according to departmental policies and procedures.
• Sets up, adjusts and manages patients on continuous mechanical ventilation including airway patency and weaning as appropriate.
• Documents all therapeutic and diagnostic activities and results in the patient’s medical record.
• Assesses the appropriateness of respiratory care ordered and discusses variances with primary physician when necessary.
• Formulates a Respiratory Care plan based on patient assessment.
• Monitors and identifies problems regarding quality assurance.
• Communicates changes in the respiratory care plan with the healthcare team.
• Explains treatment procedures to patients and/or family members and provides education on the pulmonary system.
