Job summary

MedStar Health's helicopter and ground transport team seeks an experienced Critical Care Transport Registered Nurse to deliver expert patient care in high-acuity environments. You will operate in ambulances and helicopters, assess complex needs, manage airway and invasive devices, and collaborate with physicians, pilots, and EMS colleagues to ensure safe transport.

Requires BSN, 3+ years of adult critical care experience, and multiple certifications including ACLS, PALS, NRP, and ATLS.

Qualifications

• BSN is required; plan to achieve BSN within five years if waived.
• Three years of adult critical care experience (ICU/ED) required; pediatrics/ICU experience considered.
• Must hold RN licensure in DC and Maryland; Virginia licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver expert patient care in helicopters and ambulances for diverse patient types.
• Assess complex patient needs, prioritize, and delegate tasks.
• Perform airway management and pharmacologic interventions as required during transport.
• Monitor invasive and non-invasive devices and document findings per protocol.
• Maintain readiness of equipment and supplies, ensure regulatory and safety compliance.
