Job summary

Mass General Brigham in Boston is seeking a Critical Care Technician (PCA) for Blake 12 ICU, with a 36-hour work week on a rotating day/night schedule. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and support licensed staff in a high-acuity environment.

Job Summary

$750.00 sign on bonus is being offered to eligible new employees hired in our PCA positions***Prefers at least 1 year of acute inpatient care work experience****Must have full availability Monday through Sunday and the flexibility to work both day and night shift

Schedule 36 hours a week | (3)12 hour shifts a week | Day/Night Rotation 7:00 am-7:30pm / 7:00 pm-7:30 am | Alternating Holidays and weekends required

The Opportunity: Critical Care Technician (CCT) - Blake 12 Intensive Care Unit

Blake 12 is an 18-bed adult medical, surgical, abdominal transplant, lung transplant, and trauma intensive care unit. Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients' temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes

Essential Functions

• Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No.
• Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support [BLS]; Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification]; Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician [National Certification] preferred; Nursing Assistant- preferred.
• Experience: Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions; Knowledge of medical terminology; Strong patient/customer service skills; Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
