Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Northeast Iowa is seeking a Clinical Care Specialty Tech (CCST) to join our care team. You will work with the nursing staff to provide outcome-based patient care and monitor patient responses while documenting care and preparing charts.

This 36-hour weekly night-shift role includes ECG performance, routine unit duties, coordinating with colleagues, and adhering to safety and policy standards across MercyOne facilities.

Qualifications

• Completion of approved Nurse Aide or nursing assistant programs.
• Certification tests or program completion as listed in Education.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English and communicate with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the care team in delivering outcome-based patient care.
• Assist with delivery of care on the unit.
• Communicate relevant clinical information to optimize patient outcomes.
• Perform unit-based functions and patient charting.
• Perform, monitor, and interpret electrocardiograms.
• Maintain and distribute unit supplies.
• Greet and assist as receptionist when needed.
• Adhere to safety, infection control and policies.

As a Clinical Care Specialty Tech (CCST) at MercyOne, you will work collaboratively with the health care team to provide outcome/goal-based patient care, enhance quality patient care, and improve the patient experience. Observes andreports the patient’s response and progress to interventions. Performs clerical duties that support the daily activities of nursing units. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne .

Schedule

• Full time., 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week)

• Night shift hours worked between 7:00am - 7:00pm

• Weekend and holiday rotation required

General Requirements

• Supports the team in identifying patient needs and implementing the outcome/goal-based plan of care.

• Assists the patient care team in the delivery of care.

• Communicates relevant clinical information to others to optimize patient outcomes/goals.

• Performs unit-based functions as assigned.

• Perform, monitor , and interpret electrocardiograms in multi-settings including proper electrode placement

• M aintains and distributes unit supplies and materials.

• Acts as receptionist

• Prepares and maintains patient charts.

• Using his/her knowledge of the principles of growth and development and related needs, communicates and intervenes in a manner appropriate tothe age of the patient served.

• Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

• Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

Education

Verification (by transcript or certification) of successful completion of one of the following:

• Nurse Aide I Course

• Nursing Fundamentals Course

• Nurse Aid Competency Test

• Successful completion of the Trinity Nursing Assistant Program (TNAP)

• Successful completion of the Competency Test, Iowa Emergency Medical Technician Certification

• Nurse Aide II - Advanced Course is preferred and may be provided post-hire.

Requires the ability to read, write and understand the English language, and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians while performing their job duties.
