Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support/BLS.
• Associate's/2-year degree required.
• Registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or must obtain NBRC registration within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff per Jefferson values.
• Administers prescribed respiratory therapy including oxygen, medications, PFTs, ABGs, and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs evaluation procedures to determine care needs and recommends plans to improve outcomes.
• Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation and conducts weaning and airway care.
• Collects and analyzes specimens and measures lung capacity for impairment assessment.
• Provides diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on analysis.
• Communicates with health care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Ensures smooth operation of PFT and ABG labs and performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
