Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA approved training program in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Sciences (B.S. degree preferred).
• Basic Life Support required; ACLS, NRP, PALS indicated.
• Minimum 1 year of experience; 2 years preferred.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and collaboration with physicians and health care staff.
• Computer skills and familiarity with databases.

Responsibilities

• Administers patient care in critical settings and documents care.
• Performs patient assessments for therapy and coordinates with the health care team.
• Delivers aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, and oxygen therapy.
• Ventilator management, weaning, and waveform interpretation; airway management as needed.
• Performs arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
• Educates patients, families, and students; mentors new staff.
