The role requires BLS and a current RCP license, with preferred CRT/RRT credentials and 3+ years of ICU experience. Shift is full-time nights, serving high-acuity patients with a focus on safety and quality care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• CRT license required; RRT preferred.
• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license or temporary license required.
• BLS required; ACLS/PALS/NRP or related instructor certifications preferred.
• Minimum 3+ years in acute care/ICU; ICU experience preferred.
• RCP I <1 year, RCP II 1–3 years, RCP III 3–10 years, RCP IV 10+ years.
• Six months of critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer basic and advanced therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to patients in adult and neonatal critical care units.
• Function as a resource to RCP I, participate and lead advanced patient education.
• Actively involved in departmental quality program.
• Perform respiratory care procedures: administer meds, gases, and aerosols for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes and provide patient education.
• Follow written orders from physicians in administering drugs and medication to the cardiopulmonary system, evaluate treatment provided, and take appropriate action.
• Perform patient assessment and basic interpretation of ABGs, PFTs, and chest x-rays as indicated.
• Provide expert respiratory advice and recommendations to physicians and other staff.
• Communicate effectively with professional colleagues.
• Manage time effectively.
• Document appropriately in the medical records and complete other documentation duties accurately and efficiently according to policies and procedures.
• Remain current in respiratory care through continuing education, participation in services, and review of journals.
• Assist in clinic education efforts for patients, staff, hospital, system, and/or community.
• Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promote individual professional growth and development; support department‑based goals that contribute to the success of the organization; serve as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
