Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Inc. seeks a Registered Respiratory Therapist to administer respiratory therapy, assess patients, and collaborate with physicians to determine treatment plans.

The role emphasizes documentation, quality standards, and coordination with the care team. You will monitor ventilated patients, perform invasive and non-invasive evaluations, and contribute to discharge planning under department protocols.

Qualifications

• Professional competency in the science of Respiratory Care per NBRC credential.
• Graduate of AMA approved School of Respiratory Care; licensed by the State Board.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine; BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Interact with coworkers and staff per Jefferson values.
• Administer respiratory therapy as prescribed (oxygen, meds, PFTs, ABGs, ventilation).
• Evaluate patient needs and make department-driven recommendations to improve outcomes.
• Monitor patients on mechanical ventilation; perform rounds, assess and adjust care.
• Collect sputum, blood and breath samples for analysis; measure lung capacity.
• Provide diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on analyses.
• Communicate with health-care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Ensure smooth operation of PFT/ABG labs and related duties as assigned by supervisor.
