Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited college.
• Eligibility for licensure or limited permit as Respiratory Care Practitioner in NY.
• RRT credential within 12 months of appointment and maintenance thereafter.
• BLS certification at time of application and ongoing.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care activities per orders and standards.
• Sets up, operates, cleans and stores respiratory equipment.
• Records clinical info on patients receiving therapy.
• Manages airways and cares for tracheostomies and ETTs.
• Provides non-invasive respiratory support and ventilator care.
• Wears daily assessment for weaning and transports critically ill patients.
• Delivers education to patients and participates in discharge planning.
• Responds to emergencies and performs CPR and ABG tests.
