Job summary

Amergis in Olympia and Chelan, WA, seeks experienced Registered Nurse (RN) candidates for ICU care in contract, travel roles across multiple healthcare facilities. Candidates must hold an unrestricted RN license and bring ICU experience to support high-acuity patients.

Ideal applicants will have an ACEN/CCNE-accredited nursing degree and current BLS/ACLS credentials, with readiness for service-member and patient care in diverse settings.

Qualifications

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year qualifying experience in past two years as an RN in ICU.
• Degree: Associate’s degree in nursing with ACEN/CCNE accreditation.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-specific critical care for patients across all ages.
• Care for critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and life-support equipment.
• Monitor and interpret patient data and communicate significant findings to physicians and staff.
• Develop and manage individualized nursing care plans and document care, assessments, treatments, and progress.
• Administer medications using the Five Rights and provide prescribed treatments.

Job description

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurse (RN) candidates to provide high-quality, comprehensive nursing care within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). These positions will support the care of patients with complex medical and surgical conditions and require nurses who are comfortable managing high-acuity patients and providing care across a wide range of ages and clinical needs.

This role requires a dependable nursing professional who can meet government qualification, credentialing, security, and onboarding requirements while working under a personal services arrangement. The ideal candidate will bring recent registered nursing experience in a primary care or occupational medicine setting, a current unrestricted RN license, strong clinical judgment, and a commitment to supporting mission readiness and high-quality care for service members and eligible patient populations.

• Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse
• Experience: A minimum of one (1) year qualifying experience in the past two years as a Registered Nurse in Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Degree/Education: Minimum of Associate’s degree in nursing. The school must be accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and/or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). For education outside the United States, only the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing School reports are accepted (CGFNS), for overseas degree verification
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• ACL S (American Heart Association)

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass TB Test
• Subject to a background/security investigation
• Willingness to comply with vaccination requirements.
• Contract workers shall maintain good personal hygiene and present a well-groomed and professional appearance IAW the policy at the place of performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-specific critical care for patients across all age groups
• Care for critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and life-support equipment
• Monitor and interpret patient data and communicate significant findings to physicians and other medical staff
• Develop and manage individualized nursing care plans and accurately document patient care, assessments, treatments, and progress
• Administer medications using the Five Rights and provide prescribed treatments through appropriate routes
• Manage patients requiring hemodynamic monitoring and vasopressor titration, as well as equipment such as arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, EVDs, feeding tubes, and mechanical ventilation
• Assist with or perform advanced/invasive procedures within scope of practice, including arterial punctures, pulmonary artery catheter procedures, balloon pump management, temporary pacemakers, and intubations
• Recognize life-threatening conditions and initiate lifesaving measures when a physician is unavailable
• Operate emergency equipment, including defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors, and participate in Rapid Response, resuscitation, or emergency code teams as required
• Provide patient and family education and serve as a patient advocate
• Provide direct patient care, including positioning, lifting, transporting, hygiene, feeding, and other supportive care
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare providers and participate in patient-care conferences and discharge planning
• Follow infection-control, safety, quality assurance, and risk-management requirements
• Assist with appropriate procedures involving tissue/skin banks and organ donation
• Help manage staffing resources and redistribute personnel based on changing patient-care needs
• Maintain professionalism, composure, and effective communication when dealing with patients, families, and difficult or stressful situations
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies such as cardiac/respiratory arrest, hemorrhage, shock, severe trauma, and psychiatric emergencies
