Job summary

Mercy in Springfield, MO is hiring a patient care assistant for the Medical ICU. Under the direction of an RN or LPN, you assist in individualized patient care and collaborate with the team to support high‑acuity MICU cases.

The role offers a $1,500 sign‑on bonus for full‑time staff, a U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship program, and Mercy training opportunities. BLS within 1 month and PCA competencies within 3 months are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CNA/CPTC preferred, OR enrollment in a healthcare program.
• Current Mercy co-worker.
• No prior experience required.
• If no prior experience, completion of a 175-hour Mercy-sponsored training program within 90 days.
• BLS required within 1 month of hire.
• PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Under RN/LPN direction, assists in individualized patient care.
• Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks.
• Works cooperatively with the team to support high‑acuity MICU care.
• Contributes to care for patients across conditions in the unit.
