Job summary

UNM Hospital is seeking a critical care paramedic to provide direct patient care under the Lifeguard Medical Director. You will operate under UNMH protocols and coordinate with RN teams, performing advanced life support and critical procedures in a dynamic transport environment.

The role requires extensive EMS credentials, up-to-date certifications, and the ability to work rotating shifts. Sign-On Bonus Available and Relocation Assistance Available. Requires travel to various sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Vocational or Technical training.
• Emergency Medical Services: EMS.
• CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification.
• Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic License.
• PALS or equivalent pediatric advanced life support cert
• FP-C or CCP-C within 1 year of position
• NRP within 1 year
• STABLE within 1 year
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License
• UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit within 60 days
• 1 of Natl Registry Paramedic, CCEMT-P, FP-C, CCP-C (Nonessential)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of UNMH Lifeguard Medical Director.
• Perform advanced life support including intubation, needle thoracostomy, cricothyroidotomy, intraosseous access.
• Assess patient condition and plan care with RN team members.
• Conduct POC tests and other testing as approved.
• Document all patient care and treatment in PCR and EMR systems.
• Communicate patient information with healthcare providers.
• Follow patient safety policies and raise safety concerns.
• Support research, quality, and program outreach initiatives.
