Job summary

Bozeman Health seeks an experienced Paramedic to provide advanced/critical care during interfacility and 9-1-1 EMS transports. You will partner with RNs, perform assessments, manage airways, administer medications, and ensure safe transport with a well-prepared squad vehicle and equipment.

Required MT paramedic license, NRP, BLS, ACLS, PALS, PHTLS within 12 months, plus a valid MT driver’s license. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available with a two-year commitment.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited paramedic program.
  • Current MT Paramedic license or Critical Care Paramedic license.
  • NRP certification.
  • AHA BLS certification.
  • AHA ACLS certification within 60 days of start date.
  • AHA PALS certification within 60 days of start date.
  • PHTLS or equivalent within 12 months.
  • Valid MT driver's license with acceptable MVR.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Registered Nurse partner to establish the plan of care; coordinate and deliver advanced/critical care interventions per protocol and medical direction.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, interpret diagnostics, and continually reassess patient status; adjust interventions to meet transport goals and changing conditions.
  • Administer medications, manage advanced airways, provide ventilatory support, and perform approved procedures within scope and authorization.
  • Prepare, load, secure, and monitor patients and required transport equipment with the team; verify equipment readiness and security prior to movement.
  • Use communication systems and GPS to coordinate with dispatch, team members, and receiving facilities; follow radio and telephone etiquette standards.
  • Complete accurate, timely, and thorough electronic patient care reports (ePCR) and transport documentation; deliver concise, structured handoffs to receiving staff.
  • Maintain ambulance and equipment readiness through daily check-offs, cleaning, restocking, and function testing; document deficiencies and arrange service as needed.
  • Monitor weather, road, and safety conditions; conduct risk assessments and fatigue scoring; participate in pre-briefs and debriefs.
  • Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement activities, skills maintenance, drills, and continuing education; incorporate evidence-based practice updates.
  • Serve as a clinical role model and resource to internal and external partners; provide professional customer service and education as requested.
  • Perform base duties and additional tasks as assigned to support transport operations.

Job description

$15,000 Sign-On Bonus available with a two-year commitment.


Required


  • Graduate of an accredited paramedic program.

  • Current State of Montana Paramedic or Critical Care Paramedic license.

  • Current National Registry Paramedic (NRP – National Registry Paramedic) certification.

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within sixty (60) days of start date.

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within sixty (60) days of start date.

  • Current Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.

  • Valid Montana driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).


Preferred


  • Three (3) years of paramedic experience in 9-1-1 EMS or an emergency department setting.

  • International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) credentials: CCP-C, FP-C, CP-C, or MTSP-C.

  • Previous interfacility transport experience.

  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) and/or VFIS driver training.

  • FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) training: IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800.

  • Completion of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).

  • Completion of the Difficult Airway Course.

Schedule Requirements


  • This role requires regular and sustained attendance.

  • The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

  • On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs.
