Job summary

Northwell Health in New York seeks a licensed Physician Assistant to join inpatient care teams. You will assess patients, document plans of care, perform rounds, write orders, consult with physicians, and participate in discharge planning.

Ideal candidates hold an ARC-PA accredited degree, NYS PA licensure, NCCPA certification, BLS, and at least 1 year of Critical Care experience or a corresponding fellowship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is required.
• Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited program is required.
• Licensed Physician Assistant (LPA) by the New York State Education Department is required.
• Current NCCPA certification is required.
• Current BLS certification is required.
• 1 year of Critical Care experience as an ACP is required or completion of the Critical Care ACP fellowship.

Responsibilities

• Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
• Initiates, documents, and communicates the plan of care and follows up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
• Performs daily patient rounds.
• Writes orders for medications, laboratory work and diagnostic tests; interprets laboratory and test results.
• Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff and other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care.
• Upon discharge, notes discharge summaries, prescriptions and referrals on patient charts; informs patients of post-discharge care instructions.
• Performs related duties, as required.
