Job summary

Kaleida Health's Buffalo General Medical Center in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse for Emergency Department critical care. You will assess and treat patients, perform physician-directed regimens, and uphold Kaleida policies.

Full-time, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM shifts with 72 Bi-Weekly hours and on-site work. Required NYS RN registration, BLS within 6 months, and PALS/ACLS within 1 year of hire, with seniority-based scheduling rights for 13-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Current NYS registration as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of hire.
• PALS within 1 year of hire for RN Critical Care in Emergency Departments.
• ACLS within 1 year of hire for RN Critical Care in Emergency Departments.
• Thirteen (13) hour shift employees bidding to another 13-hour shift department retain 13-hour scheduling rights.

Job Description

Assesses and treats human responses to actual and potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling and provision of care supportive or restorative of life and well-being. Executes medical regimens prescribed by a licensed physician, dentist or other licensed health care provider legally authorized under the NYS Education Department and in accordance with NYS Department of Health regulations. Adheres to current Kaleida policies and standards of practice.

Education And Credentials

Current NYS registration as a Registered Professional Nurse/RN Permit required upon hire and must be maintained thereafter. American Heart Association-Basic Life Support (BLS) within 6 months of Hire and must be maintained thereafter. RN Critical Care – American Academy of Pediatric or American Heart Association PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one (1) year of hire/transfer for RN Critical Care in the Emergency Departments. PALS must be maintained thereafter. RN Critical Care – American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within one (1) year of hire/transfer for RN Critical Care in Emergency Departments. ACLS must be maintained thereafter. **Thirteen (13) hour shift employees, who bid on a position in another thirteen (13) hour shift department, and who is accepted for that position, will have the right to continue to be scheduled thirteen (13) hours even if the job is posted as a twelve and one-half (12 ½) hour shift.**

Experience

RN Critical Care All Emergency Departments - require 1 year of acute care experience OR 1 year of EMS or paramedic experience. RN Critical Care- Adult Requires 1 year of previous healthcare or hospital experience.
