Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool (0.6 FTE). The role includes 2-12 hour shifts per week with variable/rotating shifts, supporting patient-centered care across units.

The ideal candidate holds a nursing degree, Iowa license (or compact state), and BLS certification. Experience in acute care is preferred, with duties spanning assessment, documentation, education, and collaboration with care teams.

Qualifications

• Current Iowa nursing license or compact state license.
• BLS certification required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training.
• Experience in acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate patient information during handoffs and with families and coworkers.
• Demonstrate competent assessment, planning, intervention, coordination, and evaluation of care.
• Maintain accurate, real-time nursing documentation.
• Collaborate with unit team to identify clinical problems and implement plans.
• Educate patients and families about their care plans and options.
• Delegate tasks to licensed and unlicensed staff as assigned and supervise accordingly.
